Bordeaux is a port city of south west France and a regional capital of Aquitaine. The Bordeaux city was built by the river of Garonne. It inhabitants are known as Bordelais. It constitutes the second largest urban area in France, and it is three hour’s journey from Paris by high speed train, popularly known as TGV and is an international airport, which is 8 km away from the city of Bordeaux.

Brief history of Bordeaux: - Bordeaux area was inhabited by the Neanderthalensis few thousand years ago and they have found at Pair-non-Pair Cave, in Bordeaux. In around 300 B.C, the Celtic tribes popularly known as ‘Bituriges Vivisci’ has settled here and named the town called ‘Burdigala’and the Burde is still the name of a river in the south of Bordeaux. Due to proper location, Burdigala has become a very prosperous business centre and its economic success to bring to made it the barbaric invasions. It is frequent invasions is to be continued until the 12th century when the Alienor d’ Aquitaine and Henry 11 came to power and settled the peace agreement. During the war 1337-1453 the French kings has tried to control over the lands which held by the English kings. This long time warfare gave impetus an idea about French nationality and to the French instead of being into Dukedoms. During this period, the population in France was 14 million and England was 2 million. French has got the land after a long battle of war, and English were lost the land in French which captured by the English kings. The final captured by the French in 1451 after a long period of 100 years war. The 18th century Bordeaux was a Golden Age. Bordeaux city continued to be expanded and made it best business and commercial centre in France and Europe. Now a days Bordeaux region is France’s world famous wine region and make it one of the best heritage and prosperous city which are attracting the thousands of visitor in every year for its quality wine, food, history and classical architectural design.

How to reach in Bordeaux:-

By air:-Bordeaux is connected to Paris by A10 motorway, with Lyon by A89, with Toulouse by A62 and with Spain by A63. It is a main road and motorway junction.

By rail:-Bordeaux is 3 hour’s rail journey from Paris by the France national high speed train, known as TGV. The main rail junction is Gare- de- Bordeaux Saint-Jean. The TGV also connected major European cities, such as Brussels, Amsterdam, Geneva, London and other major centre in France.

By air:-It has an international airport and airport de Bordeaux Merignac which is located 8 km away from main city centre.
