For this occasion, the Gomati Tourist Loge has been well decorated and illuminated and 25% discount is declared on room rent as on 27th September, 2011.
World Tourism Day (WTD) 2011 is being celebrated under the theme “Tourism – Linking Cultures.” The main purpose of World Tourism Day is to foster awareness among the international community of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic values.
The Egyptian city of Aswan will host the official 2011 World Tourism Day (WTD) celebrations; whish will include a High-Level Think Thank on this year’s theme, ‘Tourism- Linking Cultures’ as on 27 September, 2011.
This year’s theme is a celebration of tourism’s role in linking together the cultures of the world through travel. With millions of people traveling the world each year, never before have so many people been to so many places, nor been so exposed to other cultures. This interaction between individuals and communities, and their diverse cultures, leads to tolerance, respect and mutual understanding – the building blocks for a more peaceful world.
Since 1980, the UNWTO has celebrated World Tourism Day on September 27. This date was chosen as on that day in 1970, the Statutes of the UNWTO were adopted. The adoption of these Statutes is considered a milestone in global tourism. The purpose tourism of this day is to raise awareness within the international community and to demonstrate how it affects social, cultural, political and economic values worldwide.
Mr Subrata Deb, President, Sub-Divisional Cultural Advisory Committee, Udaipur, has described about World Tourism Day (WTD), and Mr Himangshu Ray, Sabhadhipati, South Tripura Zilla Parishad, Udaipur, has also described about World Tourism Day (WTD). Through this industry, employment generations are increasing. Many unemployed youth has been benefited for this industry. The TTDC has been undertaken varies project around Tripura State for attracting tourists. These projects are Destination Development, Circuit Development, Rural Tourism Destination Development, Fairs & Festivals and Promotion and Publicity etc.
In this auspicious programme, TTDC has been organized cultural functions, like Bengali Folk Dance, Children’s performed local music dances. Tea and breakfast has been arranged for all dignitaries and participants.
