JAMPUI HILLS :- Jampui Hills, is blessed with excellent climate condition and also known as beckoning hills resort and perpetual spring. The sunrise and sunset in the hill range are wonderful seeing. The natural beauty, the pleasant weather, varies species of trees,orchids and beautiful orange gardens make it an ideal destination for the tourists. The hills range is at an altitude of 3000’ above the sea level and about 250km.away from Agartala.
UNAKOTI:- Unakoti is situated at a distance of about178km from Agartala .
The stone and the rockcut images on the hills slopes belongs to 7thto9th centuries.The Unakoti means one less than a crore.The rocky walls,the central Shiva head and gigantic Ganeshfigures deserve the special mention which is about30” high. It is the largest Base-Relief sculpture in India. It is said that “Lord Shiva” on way to Kashi, present day Varanasi, with a crore of gods and goddesses stopped at Unakoti for the night, before retiring for the night he instructed them all to wake up before sunrise to continue on their journey. Finding he was the only one up at the prescriped times, Lord Shiva left in a rage, turning his companions into stone images with a curse.
PILAK:- Pilak is a place of attraction for it is archaeological remains of 8th-9thcenturies located at a distance of 100km from Agartala. Number of terracotta plaques, sealing with stupa and stone images of Avolokiteswara including images of Narasimhan have been found there which date back to Buddhist period. The site is one of an old civilization, representing both Hindu and Buddhist linkages. The place has close association with Mynamoti and Paharpur in Bangladesh. The site is still being excavated.
NEERMAHAL:- Neermahal, is Eastern India’s only water palace. The water palace, is built in 1930A.D. by Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya as summer resort is located at a distance of about 53km from Agartala. It is one of the good combination of between Hindu and Muslim architectural design, and about 400m in length and it is located in the middle of a lake covering an area of 5.3sq km. Well laid gardens and lighting add colour of beauty. In winter large number of migratory birds are seen in RudrasagarLake Surrounding the palace.
TRIPURA SUNDARI TEMPLE:- One of the most important and much venerated attraction of TRIPURA is the ancient temple of “Matabari or Tripurasundari “ located on a hill top of 3km from Udaipur. and it is distance of about 55km from Agartala. Matabari [Mother Goddess] is regarded as one of the 51piths(holy sites) of Hindu pilgrimage. Goddess Tripurasundari is an avatar of Parvathi, the consort of Lord Shiva, the principal deity of the state.The temple is built by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya in 1501A.D.The lake in front of the temple has added to its beauty.Thousands of devotees visit this temple round the year particularly during Diwali festival. The district town, Udaipur is also called as Temple City and Lake City. The temple history is said to be that Tripura’s king Dhanya Manikya of the 15th century is said to have had a dream ordering him to establish Tripurasundari at the hill top temple. But the king knew that it was already dedicated to Lord Vishnu and he knew he could not obey the signs in the dream, because Lord Vishnu and consort of Lord Shiva could not share the same abode. But the divine command was repeated to him the next night. Giving in the king did as he was bid.
KAMALASAGAR KALI TEMPLE:- Kamalasagar Kali Temple, was built on a hill top by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya in the late 16th century. It is situated just besides the Bangladesh border . The lake in front of this temple rightly enhance its beauty. Steps have been taken to encourage rural tourism around the temple region.Pilgrims from around the country and nearby Bangladesh coverage annually at the temple in the month of april and august to celebrate the the temple deity Goddess Kali.It is pollution free environment and natural setting make Kamalasagar an ideal holiday escape for tourists. It is about 27km aways from Agartala, the capital city of Tripura.
SEPAHIJALA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY:-The vast colony of residentials and migratory birds makes Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary a lively attraction for the birds watchers. It is about 30km from Agartala covers an area of 18.53sq. More than 150 species of residential birds migratory birds, orchid garden ,boating facilities , variety of wildlife botanical garden, zoo, elephantjoy rides, and the scenic beauty including rubber and coffee plantation attract the visitors. There are cottages inside the Sanctuary where tourists can stay.
TRISHNA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY:-The bison and great residential and migratory bird population are the great attraction for visitors at the Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary, situated at about 100km from Agartala. It is also home to the HoolockGibbon, Golden Langur and Capped Langur.
