TAWANG
Tawang is a beautiful hill town.It is a town of scenic beauty with cover of white snow mountain,excellent cloudy.Tawang is a beautifies by lake old Buddhist Monasteries and colourful peoples.Twang is attraction both from domestics as well as foreign tourists due to the excellent climate condition,.and scenic view of Tawang area. The area of district is approximately 2085 sq kms bodered by Tibet in the North, Bhutan in the South- West and Sela ranges separate West Kemang district in the East.The name Tawang is derives from some bearing on surroundings. But people interpretation is that name in the 17 the Centuries .
The inhabitants of the district are all of Monpa tribes except Shyo village which is dominated by peoples of Tibetian origion.The Monpass is belong to “Mongoloid Stock” . the are well built, fair in complexion.Their houses are built with stone,and timber , Agriculture and animal husbandary are the fundamental it is means of the Monpas occupation. Tawang monastery is one of the most important element in the social and religious life of the Monpas .The monastery is known as “GALDEN NAMGYEL LHATSE” is one of the most Largest Lama series of “MAHAYANA” sect in Asia. Lama series is comprise of several sections ranging near about four hundred years , devoted to Love, Learning and purely of life .
This fortifiedcomplex cover an are of 135sq kms meter enclosed by a compound wall of 610 meter long within the complex, there are 65 residential buildings and 10 others structures mainly Kanjur and and Tanjur numbering 850 bundles. It is dated back to 17th Century AD.
There are two major religious festivals of the Monpas viz,LOSAR” and “TORGYA”.Both festival are celebrated are annually The‘LOSAR” celebrated to the commencement of new year, Every third year of Torgya, the festivals of “Dungyur”is celebrated.Bot Dungyur and Torgya festival are celebrated at premise of the Tawang Monastery with tradtiional gaiety and enthusiasm.The warm cloths is required throughout the year.
It is to be interesting that, there are beautiful lakes around Tawang ,another one is Pankang Ten Tso (P.T.Tso) lake .It is fetching heaven for tourists only 17km away from township. It is abeautiful natural site and provide tourists a lucky chance of deep communion with nature, and eye catching lake are Sangetser Lake, Banggachang Lake,
