The “Trishna Wildlife and Tourism” (Aranya &Parjatan) Festival held on 10-02-2010 to 12-02-2010 at Joychandpur School ground in the border town of Belonia. The “Trishna Wild and Tourism Festival” are being inaugurated by Shri Anil Sarkar, Minister of Information Cultural Affairs and Tourism, Government of Tripura. And others dignitaries from locals and administrative authorities was present in the inaugural ceremony of the auspicious festival.
Cultural Night:-For these occasion, it has been organized various traditional cultural programmes such as Reang, Halam, Manipuri, Bengali etc. Every cultural team to presents of their traditional dances and music e.g. Reang team to presents of their traditional folk dance like “Hojagiri” which was very remarkable and one can not forget such an interesting dance. The Bengali folk dance is also presented in the festival. The ‘Hojagiri” dance is very famous in Tripura as well as in India. The local artists as well as others part of Tripura State were presented cultural programmes in the Colourful festival. The Artists from Bangladesh are brought to participate in the cultural night. The Manipuri, the Cheraw and Way Lamp are mains attraction for the tourists. It may here to be mentioned that, Mr&Mrs Alfred Muller, foreign tourists from Berlin, Germany are participated in the cultural night in this festival.
The objectives of the festival: - The main object of the festival is to encourage peoples to protect the wildlife, preserved the wild and to attract the tourists/ travelers and wild life lovers.
Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary:-The ‘Trishna Wild Life Sanctuary’ is located at Joy Chandpur where the festival is being organized. It is 13 km away from Belonia border town and 95 km from Agartala. The “Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary’ is protected area for the conservation of nature, wildlife and biodiversity which is frequented by the visitors and tourists. The great attraction of this “Wild life Sanctuary’ is a sizeable population of Indian Gour/ Indian Bison. Another important of the Wildlife Sanctuary is the fact that highly endangered species of Indian Sub-Continent are avail in this sanctuary which are Green Pit Viper, Vine Snake, Paradise Tree Snake, Common Wolf Snake, Indian Rock Python, Hillock Gibbon, Land Tortoise, Leopard Cat, Porcupine Wild Boar, Forest Eagle Owl, Capped Languor, Barking Beer etc which is main attraction of the tourists. It may here to be mentioned that, boating facility are available in the Wildlife Sanctuary. One can must visits of “Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary’ otherwise it can not be fulfilled for itinerary of Tripura.
